Help:Help

From McGill University Physics Department Technical Services Wiki

This help system is implemented as a Wiki. If you are viewing this on one of the Linux workstations in one of labs you are probably viewing it through Firefox.

So what we have is basically a web of hyperlinks, which appear as underlined red, blue or purple text entities. Links which you have visited are purple, links which can be viewed are blue, links which have not yet been created are shown in red. If you click upon red links it will be assumed that you intend to create the information, which for security reasons requires that you login to the Wiki.

There are rarely links back to where you clicked from, so to back track, you should either click the back button in Firefox (upper left corner of browser, see image at right), or type the hotkey [Alt]-[←] (press and hold [Alt] key, press left arrow key, release [Alt] key.)

If you click the [Help] on the button bar at the top right of the screen, the Firefox browser will be located an made the current window and the help start page loaded in a new tab.

Also possibly of interest, you can get a list of pages which have links to a page by clicking the What links here link in the tool bar at the left of the window. (See image at left.)

Adjusting Size of Text in Firefox

You can increase the size of the text by pressing [Ctrl]-[+], that is pressing and holding the [Ctrl], pressing the [+] key, (the one at the far right of the keyboard), then releasing the [Ctrl] key. [Ctrl]-[-] works as expected.
